Technical Description

The JOBS 138/C is a 4-axis horizontal machining center featuring a #50 taper spindle with maximum speeds of 9,000 rpm and 19 HP (30-minute rating), expandable to 5,000 rpm with 27 HP output. The machine accommodates workpieces up to 1,200 lbs on a standard rotary table, with a work surface measuring 24.8" x 24.8", optionally expandable to 24.8" x 31.5". The linear axes deliver 50" travel on both X and Y axes, 35.43" on the Z-axis, with rapid traverse rates of 866 ipm across all linear movements, supporting feed rates up to 866 ipm for precision cutting operations. The A-axis provides 100° indexing capability, while the B-axis offers continuous 360° rotation for versatile workpiece positioning. The machine is equipped with a 128-tool automatic tool changer, expandable to 256 tools, enabling extended production runs with minimal operator intervention. A pallet changer system is available as an option, supporting up to 12 pallets with expansion to 144 pallets for highly automated operations. The horizontal spindle orientation facilitates efficient chip evacuation and allows simultaneous access to multiple workpiece faces, making it well-suited for complex multi-surface machining of cast iron components, aerospace parts, and large structural elements. This configuration combines robust construction with flexible tooling capacity, addressing the demands of job shop environments requiring both production efficiency and manufacturing versatility.
