Technical Description

The Kaast HBW 135 Horizontal Machining Center is a high-performance CNC machine designed for precision machining of large and heavy workpieces. Featuring a robust fixed column construction and a rotary table as the B-axis, it delivers exceptional stability and accuracy for complex operations. The table measures 55" x 49" standard, with an optional extension up to 63" x 55", supporting workpieces up to 14,330 lbs. The horizontal spindle utilizes a BT50 taper and achieves speeds up to 2,500 RPM, powered by a 60 HP (30-minute rating) motor for demanding cutting tasks. The machine is equipped with a 6-axis control system, including X, Y, Z, and B axes, with optional extended travels for increased flexibility: X up to 157", Y up to 110", and Z up to 67". All linear axes offer a maximum feed rate of 197 ipm and rapid traverse of 315 ipm, ensuring efficient material removal and reduced cycle times. Tooling is managed via an optional automatic tool changer (ATC) supporting up to 32 tools, with an optional pallet changer for enhanced productivity. The rotary table provides full 360° indexing, enabling multi-sided machining without manual repositioning. Hardened and ground guideways, combined with a powerful ZF transmission spindle, guarantee long-term accuracy and durability. The HBW 135 is ideal for heavy-duty applications in aerospace, energy, and large-part manufacturing, offering a versatile platform for milling, boring, and complex contouring operations.
