Technical Description
The Komatsu HB365-3 is a robust hybrid hydraulic excavator engineered for enhanced productivity and fuel efficiency. Powered by a 269 hp (201 kW) Tier 4 Final certified Komatsu SAA6D114E-6 engine, it features an advanced hybrid energy conservation system combining a diesel engine with an electric swing motor and ultra-capacitor technology, delivering up to a 70 hp boost and reducing fuel consumption by up to 20% compared to conventional diesel models. The excavator’s operating weight ranges between 81,791 and 85,495 lbs (approximately 37,180 to 38,780 kg), ensuring excellent stability and effective handling of heavy materials, particularly on rough terrain.
The HB365-3 offers impressive digging capabilities with a maximum digging depth of 26.8 ft (8.18 m) and a maximum reach along the ground of 39 ft (11.9 m). It supports a bucket capacity of up to 2.66 m³ (approximately 3.48 yd³), enabling efficient handling of large volumes of material. The machine utilizes Komatsu’s Closed Center Load Sensing (CLSS) hydraulic system and features six selectable working modes—including Power, Economy, Lifting, Breaker, and Attachment modes—that optimize engine speed, hydraulic flow, and pressures for various applications, providing a balance between power, precision, and fuel economy.
The excavator is equipped with a fully hydrostatic drive system with automatic 3-speed travel selection and a maximum drawbar pull of up to 65,190 lbs (29,570 kg), delivering excellent maneuverability and gradeability of 70% (35°). Its swing system features an electric drive with a swing speed up to 9.5 rpm and a torque of 106 kNm (82,313 ft-lbs), offering fast and smooth rotation. The undercarriage includes triple-grouser track shoes (33.5 in) with hydraulic track adjusters and full-length track roller guards for durability. Operator comfort and safety are enhanced through a spacious cab with tempered, tinted glass, slip-resistant steps, large mirrors, and advanced monitoring via Komatsu’s Komtrax remote system. Overall, the HB365-3 combines powerful hybrid technology, efficient hydraulics, and durable construction for demanding excavation tasks.
