The KUGLER MICROGANTRY® micro 5X is a high-precision, CNC-controlled 5-axis machining center engineered for advanced micromachining and microstructuring applications. Featuring precision linear stages on the X (portal axis), Y (granite base), and Z (vertical axis) with exceptional stiffness and dynamics, the machine delivers work envelopes of 11.81" × 11.81" × 7.87". The system utilizes a massive granite machine base and rigid portal frame that provide superior thermal and mechanical stability while minimizing vibration through air-damping mounts. With digital servo controllers operating across all five axes via an optical data bus, the machine achieves positioning accuracy of ±0.3 µm and sub-micrometer repeatability. The MICROGANTRY® micro 5X accommodates both conventional microcutting tools and laser technology, enabling the machining of 2.5D, 3D, and freeform surfaces through simultaneous multi-axis motion. Optional rotary (C) and swiveling (A) axis units expand capabilities for complex geometries. High-resolution measuring systems ensure minimal axis run-out and positioning jitter, enabling ultra-smooth motion suitable for optical-quality surface generation on non-ferrous metals and specialized materials. The machine's high dynamics support linear axis speeds up to 6000 mm/min with acceleration of 10 m/s², making it ideal for precision aerospace, medical device, and optics component manufacturing where nanometer-level accuracy and surface finish are critical requirements.
