Technical Description
This vertical machining center features a robust table sized at 98.42" (L) by 78.74" (W), with an optional extended table length up to 767.71" and width up to 118.11", supporting a maximum workpiece weight of 33,069 lbs. It incorporates a vertical spindle with a BIG-PLUS® 50 taper, delivering up to 6,000 RPM and 57 HP (30-minute rating) for heavy-duty machining. The BIG-PLUS® spindle system enhances tool rigidity and cutting accuracy by providing simultaneous dual contact between the spindle taper and flange face, reducing deflection, vibration, and improving tool life. The machine uses an Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) with a large capacity of 120 tools, and a 10-second tool change time, optimizing machining efficiency for complex operations.
The CNC setup operates on three axes (X, Y, Z) with no additional U-axis. Axis travels are 118.11" (opt. 787.4") in X, 78.74" (opt. 157.48") in Y, and 49.21" (opt. 59.05") in Z, with rapid traverse rates of 1,574 inches per minute across all axes. This enables fast and precise movement across a major working envelope. The combination of a high-rigidity BIG-PLUS spindle, vast tooling capacity, and heavy-duty table allows for machining of very large and heavy workpieces with high accuracy and repeatability, suitable for demanding industrial applications such as aerospace, mold making, and heavy equipment manufacturing.
