Technical Description
The Letourneau L2350 is an ultra-large wheel loader designed primarily for heavy surface mining operations. It features a powerful turbocharged QSK 60 engine delivering 2,300 hp at 1,900 rpm, with a displacement of 2,746 cubic inches, providing substantial power for demanding tasks. The bucket capacity is 53 cubic yards (41 m³) with a breakout force of approximately 263,702 lbs (119,614 kg), enabling massive material handling in a single pass. The bucket width spans 24.9 feet (7 m), and the machine offers a maximum dump clearance of 23.1 feet (7 m), with reach at max lift and dump of 10.5 feet (3 m).
Dimensions include a length of 66.7 feet (20 m) with bucket on ground, a width over tires of 22.2 feet (7 m), height to top of cab of 21.2 feet (6 m), and a wheelbase of 25.9 feet (8 m). Ground clearance is 1.7 feet (0.5 m). The operating weight is approximately 578,000 lbs (262,179 kg), with a static tipping weight of 406,312 lbs (184,302 kg). The transmission is infinitely variable with a maximum speed of 10.6 mph (16 kph) forward and reverse, facilitating precise control.
The hydraulic system utilizes a piston pump delivering 374.9 gallons per minute (1,416 l/min) at a relief valve setting of 4,000 psi, with fast cycle times including a dump time of 3 seconds, lower time of 6 seconds, and raise time of 16 seconds. Fuel capacity is 1,050 gallons (3,974 liters), with hydraulic fluid capacity of 382 gallons (1,446 liters). The L2350 runs on large 70/70-57 tires with an 82 PR rating, and features rear axle oscillation of 26 degrees, enhancing stability on uneven terrain. It is regarded as one of the largest and most powerful wheel loaders worldwide, suited for extreme mining conditions.
