Technical Description

The LiCON LiFLEX II 444 is a high-performance horizontal 5-axis machining center featuring a compact 15.75" x 15.75" work table capable of handling workpieces up to 550 lbs. It operates with a horizontal spindle available in HSK 63 (standard) or HSK 100 (optional) tapers, delivering up to 12,000 RPM (6,000 RPM optional) and spindle power ratings of 45 to 50 HP (30 min rating). The center includes a standard U axis and offers 5-axis simultaneous machining with travel distances of 17.72" (X), 15.75" (Y, extendable to 30.71" optional), 16.54" (Z), plus 270° (A-axis) and 360° (B-axis) rotary axes, supporting complex geometries and multi-sided machining. Tool handling is provided via an automatic tool changer housing 60 tools standard (30 tools optional), with rapid tool change times of 2 seconds and chip-to-chip time of 5.5 seconds, optimizing productivity. Optional features include a pallet changer system supporting two pallets for streamlined workpiece setup and reduced downtime. The machine’s rigid design supports heavy-duty machining with high dynamic stiffness and precise control, making it suitable for medium-sized component production in single clamping setups. The LiFLEX II 444 supports advanced automation and productivity enhancement through LiCON’s proprietary i³ technology that allows twin spindle operations with independent offsets for tool wear compensation and spindle variation, enabling parallel machining and maximizing throughput in a small footprint.
