MAKINO A500Z HORIZONTAL MACHINING CENTER

The Makino A500Z is a 5-axis horizontal machining center designed for high-precision, efficient machining of medium-sized workpieces. It features a horizontal spindle with a standard 14,000 RPM capable of 49.6 HP output and 223 ft-lbs torque, with an optional high-speed spindle up to 20,000 RPM for specialized applications. The machine supports workpieces up to 882 lbs and dimensions of approximately 24.8" diameter by 19.9" height, with X, Y, and Z axis travels of 28.7", 29.5", and 19.7" (expandable to 28" in Z-axis), respectively. The rotary B-axis offers unlimited 360° direct-drive rotation, paired with a slant-style C-axis providing 180° of movement, enabling versatile workpiece positioning and complex 5-axis machining. The A500Z achieves rapid traverse rates of up to 2,362 inches per minute on linear axes and up to 45,000 degrees per minute on the B-axis, ensuring fast and agile operation. The machine includes a standard rotary table and a pallet changer with two pallets, supporting continuous production workflows. The automatic tool changer supports a large tool magazine ranging from 60 tools (standard) up to 313 tools (optional), with a tool change time of 0.9 seconds, maximizing machining efficiency and reducing downtime. All axes feature closed-loop active temperature control to maintain superior dimensional accuracy and extend component life under demanding conditions.
