The Makino A71 Horizontal Machining Center is a high-performance CNC machine engineered for precision and efficiency in heavy-duty manufacturing applications. It features a horizontal spindle orientation with a CAT #50 taper and an optional HSK100A taper, enabling top spindle speeds of up to 10,000 RPM powered by a 47 HP motor (30-minute rating). The machine supports a maximum workpiece weight of 1,540 lbs on a standard 19.7" x 19.7" table and offers tool-changing capabilities via a 40-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) with an optional capacity of up to 187 tools. Tool change times are rapid at 1.7 seconds tool-to-tool and 3.2 seconds chip-to-chip, minimizing non-cut time. The A71 provides three-axis travel with X and Y axes both at 28.7" and a Z-axis travel of 31.5", all capable of rapid traverse speeds up to 1,969 inches per minute, ensuring quick and accurate positioning. An optional fourth axis can be integrated, along with an optional rotary table. Standard equipment includes a dual-pallet changer system with two pallets to facilitate continuous machining operations.
