The Makino J4M Horizontal Machining Center is a high-speed, precision 3-axis CNC machine designed for efficient machining of aluminum and other materials in flexible transfer lines. It features a horizontal spindle with an HSK A-63 taper capable of up to 16,000 RPM, with an optional upgrade to 20,000 RPM, delivering 20 HP (30-minute rating) for robust performance. The machine’s worktable measures 15.7" x 15.7" and supports maximum workpiece weights up to 880 lbs. Standard travels include 19.7" X-axis, 22.0" Y-axis, and 19.7" Z-axis, with a rapid traverse rate of 2,362 IPM across all axes, enabling fast, precise movements. The J4M is equipped with a 15-tool automatic tool changer, with an optional increase to 45 tools, allowing for quick tool changes in as little as 1.7 seconds (chip-to-chip time of 3 seconds). Options include the addition of a U-axis for enhanced machining flexibility, pallet changers supporting 2 pallets standard with up to 24 pallets optionally available, and support for rotary or indexing tables.
