Technical Description

The Makino T1 is a high-performance 5-axis horizontal machining center featuring a 12,000 RPM horizontal spindle with HSK-A100 taper, delivering up to 76 hp and 1,000 Nm torque for machining tough materials like titanium and nickel alloys. It offers generous travel axes of 59.1" (X), 51.2" (Y), and 78.7" (Z), enabling accommodation of large parts up to 59" in diameter and height. The T1’s 5-axis capabilities include a unique tilting A-axis spindle with ±155° tilt and a B-axis rotary table with full 360° rotation, allowing full five-sided machining with enhanced access and flexibility. Tool capacity reaches up to 137 tools with rapid tool change times of 4 seconds and chip-to-chip times of 14 seconds. The machine supports dual pallets sized 39.4" x 39.4" with a maximum payload of 6,614 lbs, facilitating efficient production cycles. Rapid traverse rates reach 984 inches per minute across X, Y, and Z axes, synchronized with advanced CNC controls (Makino Professional 5 or Fanuc 31i PRO 5). Additional features include a chip conveyor, dust collector, thermal stabilizer, and high-pressure through-spindle coolant system delivering up to 1,000 psi to optimize cutting conditions and tool life. The robust monolithic column and deep chest design maximize rigidity and vibration damping, ensuring precision in demanding aerospace, industrial, and hard metal machining applications. This combination of large work envelope, high torque spindle, flexible 5-axis motion, and quick tooling changes makes the Makino T1 a versatile solution for complex, large-part manufacturing.
