The Makino MC2616-5XB is a high-performance horizontal 5-axis machining center optimized for heavy-duty machining of large workpieces. It features a robust table measuring 98.42" x 39.4" capable of supporting parts up to 4,400 lbs. The horizontal spindle has a #50 taper, delivering a base speed of 4,000 RPM with an optional increase to 5,000 RPM, powered by a 30 HP motor standard and up to 67 HP as an option. The machine is equipped with a 60-tool automatic tool changer (ATC) standard, expandable to 200 tools, with a tool change time of 16 seconds and chip-to-chip time of 21 seconds. It comes standard with a dual-pallet changer system to optimize workflow and reduce downtime. The MC2616-5XB offers five axes of movement with extensive travel ranges: 102.4" on X, 63" on Y, and 55.1" on Z axes, each capable of rapid traverse rates up to 630 inches per minute. Rotational axes include an A-axis rotation up to 105 degrees and a full 360-degree B-axis rotation, enabling simultaneous 5-axis machining and multiface indexing for complex geometries.
