Technical Description

The Makino MCD1513 is a high-performance 4-axis horizontal machining center engineered for heavy-duty machining of large workpieces, such as dies and molds, under long unattended cycles. It features a robust 59.1" x 47.2" table capable of supporting up to 17,600 lbs, enabling precise and stable workpiece setup. The machine’s horizontal #50 taper spindle offers a standard top speed of 4,000 RPM with an optional upgrade to 15,000 RPM and a 30-minute rated power of 30 HP, extendable to 67 HP for enhanced cutting capacity. The spindle’s long-nose design enhances rigidity for deep-end milling and heavy chip removal. The MCD1513 incorporates an automatic tool changer (ATC) with a standard 30-tool capacity, expandable up to 200 tools, which enables flexible and efficient multi-tool operations. A standard two-pallet changer allows continuous machining with reduced downtime. Axis travels measure 59.1" (X), 51.2" (Y), and 39.4" (Z), all with rapid traverse rates of up to 630 inches per minute, facilitating high throughput. The 4th axis rotary axis (B) provides full 360-degree rotation for complex multi-plane machining. The machine includes absolute position detection on all axes and efficient spiral chip conveyors for extensive chip and coolant management.
