Technical Description

The Makino T2 is a high-performance 5-axis horizontal machining center designed for heavy-duty and precision machining, particularly suited for materials such as titanium. It features a robust table measuring 39.4" by 49.2" capable of supporting workpieces up to 11,022 lbs. The spindle utilizes an HSK-A125 taper and delivers a top speed of 4,000 RPM with an optional upgrade to 8,000 RPM, powered by a 133 HP motor rated for 30 minutes, enabling efficient heavy cutting. The machine is equipped with a 120-tool automatic tool changer (ATC), optionally expandable to 190 tools, with a tool change time of approximately 20 seconds and a chip-to-chip time of 40 seconds. It optionally supports a pallet changer to enhance workflow automation. The T2 includes five axes of movement with travel distances of 78.7" in X and Y, 70.8" in Z, and rotary axes providing full 360° B-axis rotation and 220° A-axis tilt, enabling complex 5-axis simultaneous machining. The rapid traverse rates for linear axes reach up to 787 inches per minute, optimizing cycle times. This machining center is tailored for large, complex, and heavy components, combining high rigidity and accuracy with extensive travel and tooling capacity to boost machining efficiency in demanding aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing applications. Optional features include an additional sixth axis and pallet changer to further expand capability and productivity.
