The MARATHON SLT-500/1500 is a dual-spindle horizontal machining center designed for heavy-duty turning and milling operations. It features a main spindle capable of handling workpieces up to 21.400" in diameter with a maximum turning length of 57.400", supported by a 16.000" chuck and 24.000" swing capacity. The main spindle operates at 2,000 RPM with 60 HP output, complemented by a sub-spindle rated at 2,000 RPM and 35 HP for simultaneous secondary operations on 16.900" diameter workpieces. The machine accommodates a maximum bar diameter of 6.000" and includes a rotary tool spindle spinning at 4,000 RPM with 7.50 HP for additional machining capabilities. The turret-based tool system provides 12 turning tools and 6 rotary tools, enabling single-point simultaneous cutting operations. With a 2-axis configuration, the machine delivers X and Y axis travels of 13.500" at 400 ipm feed rates and 590 ipm rapid traverse speeds. The Z-axis provides 43.300" of travel, also at 400 ipm maximum feed rate and 590 ipm rapid traverse.
