The MAS SPU 40 Horizontal Machining Center is a robust CNC turning and milling machine designed for versatile, precision metalworking. It features a single main horizontal spindle with a maximum turning diameter of 19.6 inches, turning length capacity up to 59 inches, and a swing capacity of 24 inches, supporting bar stock up to 3.14 inches in diameter. The main spindle operates at speeds up to 4,000 RPM with a 30 HP motor, providing sufficient power for heavy-duty machining. The machine is equipped with a VDI-type primary tool carrier, accommodating up to 6 turning and 6 rotary tools, each rotary tool delivering 13 HP and up to 4,000 RPM. It supports simultaneous multi-axis cutting with 4 controlled axes, including X, Y, and Z travels customizable—standard X, Y, Z travels are 12 inches each, with options extending to 46", 62", and 109" respectively. The rapid traverse rate is 480 inches per minute for all axes, with a maximum feed rate of 200 inches per minute. This configuration allows for dynamic machining processes, including complex contours and milling operations alongside turning.
