The MATEC FDZ-DUO is a dual-spindle horizontal machining center designed for high-productivity turning and milling operations on medium to large workpieces. It features two main spindles, each rated at 7,000 RPM and 30 HP, capable of accommodating workpieces up to 10 inches in diameter and 43.3 inches in length, with a maximum bar diameter of 2.75 inches. The dual-spindle configuration enables simultaneous machining on multiple parts or staged operations to maximize throughput and reduce cycle times. The machine incorporates a 5-axis control system with X, Y, and Z linear travels of 78.7 inches (optional 47.24 inches), 23.6 inches (optional 39.3 inches), and 23.62 inches respectively, all delivering rapid traverse rates of 1,179 ipm for efficient positioning. An automatic tool changer (ATC) manages up to 24 turning tools and 24 rotary tools, supporting one simultaneous cutting tool operation per spindle. The rotary tool spindle operates at 6,000 RPM with 21 HP, enabling secondary milling operations and complex geometry finishing. This configuration makes the FDZ-DUO ideal for job shops and contract manufacturers requiring flexible part production with integrated turning and milling capabilities, reducing secondary operations and improving part accuracy through consolidated machining on a single platform.
