A+Technical Description
The Matsuura LUMEX Avance-25 is a hybrid vertical machining center integrating metal laser sintering and high-speed milling in a single platform. Designed for advanced metal additive manufacturing, it features a Yb fiber laser with standard output options of 400W, 500W, or an optional 1kW for increased build speed, achieving up to 35 cc/h with the higher-power configuration. The machine supports a maximum workpiece size of 256 x 256 x 300 mm (10.1 x 10.1 x 11.8 in) and can handle parts up to 150 kg (330 lbs), with a vertical spindle capable of 45,000 RPM for high-precision milling. The system utilizes optimized galvano control, improved powder distribution, and pre-milling powder suction to reduce both sintering and milling cycle times, while the linear motor-driven axes deliver rapid traverse rates of 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) on X, Y, and Z. The Avance-25’s build chamber atmosphere can be controlled with nitrogen or argon, supporting a range of metal powders including maraging steel, stainless steels, titanium, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloys. Layer thickness is typically 50 μm, and the machine’s CAM software enables seamless integration of additive and subtractive processes for complex mold and part geometries. Optional automation includes an Automatic Powder Recovery (APR) system for safe, efficient powder handling. The Avance-25’s compact footprint and flexible configuration make it suitable for high-accuracy, high-speed production of intricate metal components, combining the benefits of additive manufacturing and CNC machining in one system.
