A+Technical Description
The Mazak Variaxis i-500 is a compact 5-axis vertical machining center engineered for precision multi-face and simultaneous 5-axis machining operations. It features a work envelope of 13.78" (X-axis), 21.65" (Y-axis), and 20.08" (Z-axis) travel, accommodating cylindrical workpieces up to 19.69" diameter by 13.78" height on its 19.69" × 15.75" pallet. The machine delivers rapid traverse rates of 2,362 IPM on X and Y axes and 2,205 IPM on Z-axis, with rotary axes capable of 18,000 degrees/minute. Equipped with a 30 kW (40 HP) spindle operating at 12,000 RPM standard and featuring 40-taper tool interface, the unit accommodates 30 tools with impressive 4.5-second chip-to-chip tool change times. The A-axis provides -120° to +30° tilt with 0.0001° positioning accuracy and 0.55-second indexing per 90°, while the C-axis rotates a full 360°. High-rigidity construction, complemented by roller gear cam technology on rotary axes, ensures sustained machining stability and accuracy. The Mazatrol Smooth X CNC control system enables advanced automation and multi-product flexibility. Optional features include high-pressure coolant (300 PSI) with through-spindle delivery, Renishaw NC4 laser tool measurement, and chip conveyor systems. The machine's table load capacity is 661 pounds, with overall dimensions of 94.49" × 120.47" × 117.13".
