Technical Description

The Milltronics SL8II is a slant-bed CNC turning center with a one-piece true slant bed casting, linear motion guideways with roller bearings and direct-coupled ballscrews. It has a swing over the bed of 21.7 in, a swing over the cross slide of 11.8 in, a maximum turning diameter of 14 in and a maximum turning length of 21 in. The A2-6 spindle has a 3.07 in bore and a 2.54 in draw tube, carries an 8 in 3-jaw hydraulic chuck and runs from 0 to 4,000 rpm. The AC spindle motor is rated 30/20 hp (23.2/15 kW) and gives a maximum torque of 161 ft-lbs at 1,000 rpm. The bi-directional automatic turret holds 12 tools with 1 x 1 in shanks and boring bars up to 1.5 in. Axis travels are 8 in in X and 21 in in Z, with rapid traverse of 1,181 in/min, a maximum cutting feed of 400 in/min, positioning accuracy of plus or minus 0.0002 in and repeatability of 0.0002 in. The tailstock has an MT4 quill 2.28 in in diameter with 3.46 in of travel. The machine stands 83.7 in tall, has a nominal operating footprint of 142.8 x 88.3 in, weighs 8,885 lb and needs 26 kVA at 208-240 V, 3-phase.
