Technical Description
This vertical machining center features a robust 34" x 18" worktable supporting up to 1,750 lbs, ideal for heavy workpieces. The vertical spindle utilizes a BIG-PLUS® ISO No. 40 taper for enhanced rigidity and tool accuracy, delivering up to 10,000 RPM driven by a 15 HP motor rated for 30 minutes, enabling powerful and precise machining. The machine supports three axes with travels of 30" (X), 18" (Y), and 20" (Z), each capable of a maximum feed rate of 500 IPM and a rapid traverse of 945 IPM, ensuring efficient material removal and fast positioning.
Tool handling is managed by a double-arm tool carrier accommodating 24 tools, optimizing tool changes and minimizing downtime. Although no pallet changer or U axis is integrated, a rotary table support is optionally available for enhanced rotary machining capabilities.
The BIG-PLUS® spindle system improves toolholder-to-spindle face contact by providing simultaneous taper and flange fitting, significantly increasing tool rigidity and machining accuracy, reducing deflection, and improving surface finish and tool life. This system also enhances automatic tool changer repeatability and eliminates axial tool movement at high spindle speeds, crucial for maintaining precision in demanding milling, drilling, and boring operations.
