The Mitsui Seiki VX 550-5X is a high-precision, 5-axis vertical machining center engineered for demanding applications in aerospace, mold and die, and energy sectors. Its rigid “box-in-box” structure and massive side-supported trunnion-style tilt axis deliver exceptional stability and accuracy for complex part machining. The machine features a vertical spindle with a #50 BIG PLUS taper, capable of speeds up to 15,000 RPM (optionally 25,000 RPM) and a 20 HP (30-minute rating) motor, ensuring powerful and versatile cutting performance. The table measures 15.700" x 15.700" and supports workpieces up to 770 lbs. Linear axis travels are 21.6" (X), 23.6" (Y), and 17.7" (Z), with a 120° tilt range on the A-axis. All axes offer a maximum feed rate and rapid traverse of 1,900 ipm, enabling fast, efficient material removal and setup changes. Tooling is managed by an automatic tool changer (ATC), with a pallet changer available as an option for increased productivity. The VX 550-5X is designed for ergonomic access and easy workpiece handling, making it suitable for high-mix, high-accuracy production environments.
