Technical Description

The MS Machining HMC-400 is a horizontal machining center with a 15.7" x 15.7" table capable of supporting workpieces up to 550 lbs. It features a #40 horizontal spindle with a standard top speed of 6,000 RPM, optionally upgradeable to 9,000 RPM, and a 15 HP motor rated for 30 minutes. The tool system includes a 24-tool automatic tool changer (ATC). The machine is equipped with two standard pallets and a pallet changer. The axis travels are 17.2" (X), 19.0" (Y), and 18.0" (Z), each with a maximum feed rate of 276 ipm and a rapid traverse of 630 ipm. It operates with three axes and does not include a U axis. The system supports high-speed, precise horizontal machining tasks ideal for mid-sized parts within the weight limit. The ATC ensures flexible tooling with fast change times, and the pallet changer enhances productivity by allowing continuous machining with minimal downtime.
