Technical Description

The Nakamura-Tome Super NTX is a large multitasking machine that combines a B-axis ATC tool spindle with lower turrets and opposed left and right spindles, so that a part can be completed in one chucking. The tool spindle has a 160 mm Y-axis stroke (plus or minus 80 mm), indexes through 230 degrees (plus or minus 115 degrees), runs at 8,000 rpm (12,000 rpm optional) and is driven by an 18.5/11 kW built-in motor. It takes KM63 or Capto C6 shanks (HSK-A63 optional), with a 24-tool magazine as standard and 40, 80 or 120 tools as options. The standard Super NTX has two lower dodecagonal turrets, each with 24 index positions and 12 individually rotating driven-tool stations powered by 5.5/3.7 kW motors at 3,600 rpm; the Super NTX(s) has one lower turret. Maximum turning diameter is 390 mm (15.35 in) and maximum turning length is 1,100 mm (43.31 in), with 250 to 1,400 mm between spindle noses. Both spindles use 22/18.5 kW built-in motors and run at 4,500 rpm (3,500 rpm optional). Chuck size is 8 inches (10 inches optional) and bar capacity is 65 mm (71 mm optional). Machine weight is 20,000 kg.
