Technical Description

The Scharmann ALPHA 1000S is a precision horizontal machining center designed for high-volume production and complex part manufacturing. Featuring a robust three-axis configuration with optional four-axis capability, the machine accommodates workpieces up to 11,000 lbs on standard 39.37" × 39.37" pallets, expandable to 49.21" × 49.21" for larger components. The horizontal SK 50 spindle delivers up to 6,000 RPM at 48 HP, with optional upgrades to HSK 100A taper, 10,000 RPM, and 60 HP for enhanced surface finish and production rates. Rapid traverse speeds reach 1,575 ipm across all linear axes (X, Y, Z), with maximum travels of 63" standard or 79" optional on X and Y axes, and up to 79" on the Z-axis. The machine incorporates an integrated automatic tool changer with 40 standard tool capacity, expandable to 400 tools for extended unattended operations. A standard dual-pallet changer system accommodates two pallets, upgradeable to four, enabling seamless part loading and unloading while maintaining spindle operation. Optional rotary and index tables provide additional machining flexibility. The optional A-axis rotation (190°) and B-axis rotation (360°) enable four-axis simultaneous machining for complex geometries. This configuration makes the ALPHA 1000S ideal for automotive, aerospace, and general industrial applications requiring precision, repeatability, and production efficiency.
