Technical Description

The Scharmann ALPHA 800 BM is a high-performance horizontal machining center engineered for heavy-duty and precise milling operations. Its robust table measures 31.5" x 31.5" (optionally up to 39.37" x 39.37") and supports workpieces up to 5,500 lbs, facilitating large and heavy part machining. The machine features a horizontal spindle with an SK 50 taper (upgradeable to HSK 100A) capable of speeds up to 6,000 RPM and a powerful 48 HP motor rated for 30 minutes, with an optional increase to 60 HP, delivering substantial cutting forces. It incorporates an automatic tool changer (ATC) with a standard capacity for 40 tools, expandable to 400, ensuring flexibility for complex production runs. The pallet changer system is standard, equipped with two pallets and scalable up to four, enhancing production efficiency. This machining center operates on a 4-axis configuration (optional 5-axis), with travel dimensions of 51" in X and Z, and 39" in Y (optional 49"), allowing versatile and extensive machining envelopes. The machine boasts a maximum feed rate and rapid traverse of 1,969 inches per minute across axes, facilitating high-speed operations. The rotary axes provide 190° and 360° movement for angled and complex machining tasks. Its design supports optional indexing tables and rotary tables for diversified workholding.
