Technical Description

The Schiess HORIMASTER 2-T Horizontal Machining Center is engineered for heavy-duty, precision machining with a robust work table measuring 108.27" x 88.58" capable of supporting workpieces up to 55,000 lbs. It features a CAT 50 spindle taper designed for increased rigidity and stability in machining large or tough materials, driven by a 70 HP spindle motor with a top speed of 3,000 RPM, optionally upgradeable to 6,000 RPM. The machine supports three axes standard (X: 59.06", Y: 59.06", Z: 39.37") with feed and rapid traverse rates up to 630 ipm, and includes an optional fourth U axis with 180° rotation. Tool handling is facilitated by an automatic tool changer (ATC) with a standard single-tool capability, expandable up to 160 tools, and tool change times of 30 seconds (tool-to-tool) and 45 seconds with chip removal. Pallet changing is available as an option, supporting two pallets for efficient workpiece handling. The machine’s construction and optional rotary or index tables enhance support for heavy and complex workpieces. This configuration maximizes productivity in large-scale milling operations, while the box-way design (implied by the machine’s class) ensures rigidity and durability under heavy loads. The optional tooling and pallet systems, combined with CAT 50 taper and powerful spindle, make the Schiess HORIMASTER 2-T ideal for demanding horizontal machining applications requiring high precision and heavy workpiece capacity.
