Technical Description

The Toyoda HB Series Horizontal Machining Center is a high-capacity 5-axis precision machine designed for large workpieces, featuring a horizontal spindle with CAT 50 taper, capable of speeds up to 2,500 RPM (optionally 3,500 RPM). It supports maximum workpiece weights up to 17,636 lbs and offers a large table size of 56.7" x 63.0" (optionally 63.0" x 78.7"), enabling extensive X (78.7" standard, 118" optional), Y (70.9" standard, 82.6" optional), and Z (51.2" standard, 59.1" optional) axis travel with rapid traverse rates of 590 inches per minute across all axes. The machine is equipped with a 40-tool automatic tool changer (expandable to 90 tools) facilitating multi-operation machining without interruptions. The spindle orientation is horizontal, delivering robust cutting power and stability supported by the rigid Meehanite cast iron bed and column construction, which ensures thermal stability and long-term durability. The B axis offers full 360° rotation for complex 5-axis machining capabilities without auxiliary rotary tables. The machine’s feed systems employ precision ground ballscrews with preloaded nuts, high-speed servo drives, and rapid traverse for efficient material removal and accurate positioning.
