A+Technical Description
The TRAUB TNL 12 is a high-performance horizontal sliding-headstock CNC lathe engineered for precision machining of small, complex parts, particularly in medical, optical, and electrical engineering industries. The machine features a main spindle with a maximum turning diameter of 0.630" and a turning length of 5.120", capable of handling bar stock up to 0.520" in diameter. Both the main and sub-spindles operate at speeds up to 12,000 RPM, each delivering 5.40 HP for high dynamic response and accuracy. The spindles are fluid-cooled and equipped with a live guide bushing for enhanced stability and surface finish. The TNL 12 is equipped with two tool turrets: the primary turret supports up to 12 turning and 12 rotary tools, while the secondary turret accommodates 6 turning and 6 rotary tools, with rotary tools rated at 2.00 HP and 8,000 RPM. Up to four tools can cut simultaneously, maximizing productivity. The machine offers 3-axis standard configuration, expandable to 7 axes for advanced applications. Axis travels are X: 1.380", Y: 1.500", and Z: 5.520", with rapid traverse rates of 590 ipm on all axes. The design incorporates a thermo-symmetrical cast iron bed for high accuracy, short tool change times, and an ergonomic, compact layout. The TRAUB TX8i-s control system with iXpanel enables intuitive operation and seamless integration into networked production environments, making the TNL 12 a versatile, future-ready solution for demanding precision machining tasks.
