Technical Description

The Tsugami SS-20 Horizontal Machining Center is a high-precision, 7-axis Swiss-type CNC lathe engineered for complex, high-volume machining tasks. It features a main spindle with a maximum turning diameter and bar capacity of 0.790", capable of speeds up to 10,000 RPM and powered by a 4.9 HP motor. The sub-spindle matches the main spindle’s RPM and power, enabling efficient part transfer and secondary operations. The primary tool carrier is a slide with up to 12 turning tools and 5 rotary tools, each rotary tool rated at 1.3 HP and 5,000 RPM. The secondary tool carrier, a backslide, supports up to 6 turning tools and 2 rotary tools, also rated at 1.3 HP and 5,000 RPM. The machine allows for two simultaneous cutting tools, maximizing productivity. Secondary milling and drilling functions are standard, including on-center, off-center, C-axis, and Y-axis capabilities. Axis travels are 5.51" (X), 3.23" (Y), and 13.77" (Z), with rapid traverse and max feed rates of 945 ipm on all axes. The SS-20’s modular tool zone and automation-ready design facilitate quick changeovers and easy access for tooling adjustments, making it ideal for both short and long production runs.
