Technical Description

The Tsugami SS-32 is a 7-axis CNC Swiss-type horizontal machining center engineered for precision multi-tasking operations on small diameter bar stock up to 1.260 inches. The machine features dual main spindles and a sub-spindle, each operating at maximum 8,000 RPM with combined horsepower ratings of 7.33 HP per main spindle and 4.90 HP for the sub-spindle, enabling simultaneous cutting with up to two tools in operation. The primary opposed gang tool slide accommodates 12 turning tools and 5 rotary tools, while the secondary backslide provides an additional 6 turning tools and 2 rotary tools, allowing extensive tooling flexibility for complex part geometries. The machine delivers rapid traverse rates of 945 IPM across X, Y, and Z axes, with respective travels of 5.510", 3.230", and 13.770 inches, supporting maximum headstock stroke of 12.6 inches. Advanced capabilities include simultaneous multi-axis machining with on-center and off-center secondary milling/drilling functions, full C-axis integration, and optional Y-axis functionality for compound angle work. The 1.30 HP rotary tool spindle operating at 5,000 RPM handles ancillary drilling and tapping operations. Controlled by FANUC CNC architecture, the SS-32 combines Swiss-type precision with turn/mill multitasking capability, making it ideal for producing complex medical, automotive, and aerospace components requiring tight tolerances and multiple operations in a single setup.
