Technical Description

The Union K 130 Horizontal Machining Center is a robust, high-precision CNC horizontal boring mill designed for heavy-duty machining of large, complex workpieces up to 22,000 lbs. It features a spacious table measuring 63" x 50", with an optional larger table of 78" x 63", supported by a heavy-duty box-type column and precision linear guides to ensure rigidity and accuracy across long travels. The horizontal spindle utilizes a CAT #50 taper with an 80 HP (30-minute rating) motor, capable of speeds up to 4,000 RPM as standard, with an option to increase to 6,000 RPM, or alternate HSK 63 taper for enhanced tooling flexibility. The machine supports up to five CNC-controlled axes—X, Y, Z with travels of 98" x 78" x 40" (extendable to 157" x 118" x 102") plus rotary A and B axes, the latter providing full 360° rotation to allow multi-sided machining and complex contours. Optional U-axis capability enables additional precision angular positioning. Tool handling is configurable with an automatic tool changer accommodating up to 40 tools by default, expandable up to 156, featuring rapid 2-second tool changes and 15-second chip-to-chip times. A pallet changer system is available for dual pallets, enhancing production efficiency. The machine integrates rigid T-shaped beds, preloaded ball screws, and vibration-resistant construction for high machining accuracy, suitable for prismatic parts and complex milling operations. CNC control options typically include Heidenhain or Siemens systems, providing programmable multi-axis control with precision and repeatability.
