Technical Description

The Union K 150 Horizontal Machining Center is a heavy-duty CNC machine designed for versatile and precise horizontal boring and milling of large prismatic workpieces. It features a planer-type construction with a robust vibration-resistant box-type column and rigid T-shape bed, ensuring high rigidity and machining accuracy. The standard table size measures 78" x 63" with an optional extended size of 98" x 71", supporting workpieces up to 22,000 lbs. It includes a standard rotary table and offers optional support for an index table and pallet changer with up to two pallets for efficient workpiece handling. The spindle is horizontally oriented with a standard CAT #50 taper and an optional HSK 63 taper, running at speeds up to 2,800 rpm (3,000 rpm optional) powered by a 62 HP motor (upgradeable to 80 HP). The machine supports automatic tool changing (ATC) with a standard capacity of 40 tools and an optional upgrade to 120 tools, achieving a fast 2-second tool change time. It is equipped with 5 CNC axes (optional 6 axes and U axis) providing extensive movement range and complex contouring capabilities. Maximum travels include a 98" X-axis (extendable to 126"), 78" Y-axis (118" optional), 40" Z-axis (59" optional), alongside A- and B-axis rotary motions of 110° and 360°, respectively, with rapid traverse rates up to 590 ipm. This machine is optimized for heavy, large-scale machining requiring precision, flexibility, and high throughput, making it suitable for industries requiring complex and large component manufacturing.
