Technical Description

The Union PR 150 Horizontal Machining Center is engineered for high-capacity, precise horizontal milling operations. It features a robust table size of 157" x 78" with an optional extension up to 196" x 98", supporting extremely heavy workpieces up to 999,999 lbs, suitable for large-scale industrial applications. The machine offers a horizontal spindle with a CAT #50 taper, upgradeable to HSK 63, delivering a maximum speed of 2,800 rpm standard, with an option for high-speed spindles reaching 24,000 rpm. The spindle is powered by a 62 HP motor (30-minute rating), optionally increased to 74 HP for enhanced cutting performance. Tooling flexibility is provided through an Automatic Tool Changer (ATC), standard with 40 tools and optionally expandable to 80 tools, allowing rapid 2-second tool changes and 15-second chip-to-chip times, optimizing productivity. The machining center supports 4 axes standard, with options to expand to 6 axes and an additional U axis for increased versatility in complex part machining. Axis travels include X1 at 157" (optional up to 800"), Y1 at 98" (optional 236"), and Z1 at 40", all capable of feed rates and rapid traverses up to 590 inches per minute. Rotary axes include an A1 axis with ±110° rotation and a full 360° B1 axis for versatile multi-axis machining. Optional rotary and index tables are available to further support complex, high-precision component manufacturing in automotive, aerospace, and heavy equipment sectors.
