Technical Description

The VICTOR S2660S Manual Lathe is a precision heavy-duty machine designed for turning large, heavy parts smoothly and efficiently. It features a robust 26-inch swing capacity and a 60-inch distance between centers, enabling versatile machining of sizable workpieces. The lathe is powered by a 15 HP motor driving a spindle with a large 4.13-inch (4-1/8") bore and a D1-11 spindle nose, supporting a broad speed range from 15 to 1,200 RPM across 12 steps for optimal cutting conditions. The machine’s cross slide swing is 18.1 inches, with a 15-inch cross slide travel to accommodate precise tooling movements. Constructed with a Meehanite casting bed and hardened, precision-ground chromium molybdenum steel gears in the headstock, the lathe ensures durability, rigidity, and long-lasting accuracy. Its bed ways are hardened and ground for smooth carriage movement, while the cross slide features induction-hardening to HRC 52° for wear resistance. The carriage includes a mechanical overload device for protection under heavy cutting loads. The tailstock has a dual-speed quill (1:1 and 5:1 ratio) to facilitate drilling operations. Additional features include Turcite B coated slideways between saddle and bed for reduced friction, a universal inch/metric gearbox, threading capabilities encompassing 60 inch and metric thread types, and standard accessories like a removable gap, chuck cover with limit switch, threading dial indicator, center sleeve, and dead center MT #5. This lathe is engineered for high precision and productivity in demanding machining environments.
