The Willemin-Macodel 701S is a high-precision vertical machining center featuring a 3-axis parallel kinematics "delta" architecture, designed for ultra-fast and highly accurate micro-machining applications. It provides travel ranges of approximately 2.05" (X), 1.26" (Y), and 1.26" (Z) with rapid traverse rates up to 2,830 ipm on all axes. The machine accommodates small workpieces up to 5 lbs on a compact 2" x 2" table. Its fixed, special holderless spindle achieves a top speed of 80,000 rpm with a continuous power rating of 5.4 HP, optimized for micro and precision machining where thermal stability and minimal bearing heat are critical. Tools are held directly on the spindle via cold shrink fit, eliminating the need for tool holders, which enhances accuracy and reduces tooling change time to 0.9 seconds with a 36-position automatic tool changer (ATC). A standard pallet changer with 12 pallets enhances automation and productivity. The machine integrates advanced servo control, linear motors with accelerations up to 50 m/s² (5g), and nanometer-scale resolution (10 nm) enabling submicron positioning and exceptional surface finish quality.
