Technical Description

The 2018 Willemin-Macodel W518MT is a 5-axis multi-tasking mill-turn center manufactured in Switzerland, designed for complete machining of larger precision components requiring turning, milling, drilling, and complex multi-surface operations in a single clamping. The W518MT accommodates bar stock and chucked workpieces up to 63 mm (2.48 inches) in diameter, with the main turning spindle delivering 18.8 HP continuously at up to 20,000 RPM. The milling spindle uses an HSK-A63 taper and supports high-speed finishing operations, with a B-axis swivel range of minus 45 to plus 100 degrees providing full angular access to complex part geometry. The machine provides 24.8 inches of X-axis travel, 12.6 inches of Y-axis travel, and 19.7 inches of Z-axis travel, with continuous A-axis turning and optional back-working unit for full 6-to-8-axis capability. Fanuc 16i-MB or Fanuc 31i-A5 CNC control on standard units provides comprehensive multi-axis interpolation and turning-milling combined cycles. At approximately 10,141 pounds with overall dimensions of approximately 170 to 182 by 95 to 100 by 95 inches depending on configuration, the W518MT is a compact machine relative to its capability. This machine is ideally suited to aerospace, medical device, and precision instrument manufacturers producing complex rotational and prismatic components requiring high accuracy and complete machining in minimum setups.
