Technical Description

The 2020 YASDA PX30I is a 5-axis ultra-precision vertical machining center engineered by Yasda Precision Tools of Japan, representing the pinnacle of simultaneous multi-axis precision machining. The PX30i integrates a highly rigid portal bridge structure with a symmetrical thermal design to minimize displacement due to temperature variation, achieving sub-micron positioning accuracies of 2.3 micrometers in X, 1.4 in Y, and 2.1 in Z per ISO 230-2. A B/C-axis direct-drive tilting rotary table enables full 5-axis simultaneous machining of complex aerospace, defense, medical, and precision mold components. The preload self-adjusting spindle operates from 100 to 20,000 RPM, delivering 15 kW continuously and 18.5 kW at 30-minute rating, accommodating both heavy-duty steel cutting and high-speed aluminum finishing. The automatic tool changer stores up to 323 tools as standard with an optional 512-tool capacity, and the integrated pallet stocker holds 33 pallets for extended lights-out operation. All linear axes are driven by high-precision ball screws with coolant-circulated bearings to maintain thermal stability. The machine runs on a Fanuc 31i-B5 control with YASDA’s proprietary OpeNe operating interface, providing advanced 5-axis compensation, tool management, and calibration functions. The PX30i achieves a NAS979 circularity of 3.10 micrometers, making it one of the most accurate vertical machining centers available for high-volume precision production.
