The 2011 Weeke Optimat Bhx 500 is a high-speed CNC machining center designed for the simultaneous top and bottom processing of panel-shaped workpieces. This three-axis continuous machine features a rigid steel frame construction with THK linear motion guides and high-precision ball screws for the Y and Z axes, while the X-axis utilizes a zero-backlash, pre-loaded helically ground rack and pinion system. Workpiece dimensions range from a minimum length of 200 mm to a maximum of 2,500 mm, with widths between 70 mm and 1,000 mm, and thicknesses from 4 mm to 80 mm. The system achieves rapid positioning speeds of 138 m/min in X, 80 m/min in Y, and 50 m/min in Z. Machining capabilities include dual vertical boring blocks with 36 spindles each, reaching speeds up to 7,500 RPM, and horizontal drilling units. It is equipped with two 6.0 kW vertical router motors operating between 6,000 and 18,000 RPM, alongside top and bottom CNC-controlled grooving saws with a maximum blade diameter of 125 mm. The control system is powered by PowerControl PLC software on a Windows platform, featuring WoodWop 6.1 and barcode integration. Technical requirements include a 3-phase 208/240/480V power supply, 19.5 kW total connected load, 102 PSI compressed air, and a 280 mm dust extraction connection. Workpiece handling is managed via integrated clamping devices and a threefold divided air cushion table for surface protection.
