The Southwestern Industries TRAK TRL 2470RX is a two-axis precision CNC toolroom lathe offering a 24-inch swing over bed and a 70-inch machining length between centers. Powered by a 15 HP spindle motor, it operates across two speed ranges from 40 to 1,800 RPM and features a D1-8 spindle nose, a 4.09-inch through-hole, and an MT #8 spindle taper. The machine is equipped with a 12-inch chuck, a 4-station turret holding 1-inch tools, and a tailstock providing 8.5 inches of quill travel with an MT #5 taper. Built for stability, it utilizes a Meehanite cast monolithic base with heavy ribbed construction, hardened and ground bedways, and Turcite-coated sliding surfaces. Operational control is managed via the ProtoTRAK RLX system, which features a 15.6-inch touchscreen LCD, electronic handwheels for manual DRO operation, TRAKing software, linear and circular interpolation, canned cycles, and full graphical toolpath verification.
