Technical Description

The Akari HMC HS-450i is a precision horizontal machining center engineered for advanced multi-axis manufacturing with exceptional expandability and thermal stability. This 4-axis CNC machine features a robust one-piece bed casting with THK heavy-duty roller guideways across all axes, delivering superior rigidity and cutting performance. The machine operates with a 30 hp, 12,000 RPM Big Plus spindle equipped with CAT-40 taper tooling and 30 bar through-tool coolant delivery. Controlled by a Fanuc 31i-M CNC system with AICC II contour control and 200-block look-ahead capability, the HS-450i achieves rapid traverse rates of 2,362 in/min across X, Y, and Z axes. The work envelope accommodates parts up to 29.5" diameter and 39.4" height with maximum pallet loads of 1,100 lbs. The machine features an 80-tool automatic tool changer with 1-second tool change time, expandable to 120 or 220 tool positions. Precision is maintained through advanced thermal compensation systems including a temperature-controlled oil circulation network supplying the spindle cartridge and axis bearings, complemented by pressurized air/oil mist lubrication to minimize thermal growth. The modular building-block design allows configuration expansion with optional 6-pallet automatic pallet changers and mechanical lock pallet clamping systems. Measuring 185" × 105" × 110" and weighing 26,000 lbs, this machine combines production efficiency with positional accuracy to ±0.001° on the B-axis.
