Technical Description
The Akira Seiki SL30 is a two-axis (X/Z) CNC slant-bed turning center built by Akira Seiki Co., Ltd. in Taichung, Taiwan, and is the smallest model of the SL30/SL35/SL40 group in its SL 2-Axis line. It is controlled by the AKIRA Mi:845 CNC, which accepts Fanuc-style G code. The machine swings 600 mm (23.6 in) over the bed and front cover and 400 mm (15.7 in) over the cross slide, with a maximum cutting diameter of 400 mm (15.7 in) and a maximum cutting length of 600 mm (23.6 in). A long-bed SL30L version extends cutting length to 1,000 mm (39.4 in). The A2-6 spindle nose carries an 8 in chuck as standard, with 10 in optional, and the draw tube bore is 65 mm (2.6 in). Maximum spindle speed is 4,500 rpm, with peak output of 24 hp and peak torque of 305 N·m. X-axis travel is 220 + 20 mm and Z-axis travel is 610 mm, with 36 m/min rapid traverse on both axes. The 12-station turret takes 25 mm O.D. tool shanks and 40 mm boring bars, with a 0.35-second adjacent tool change. The tailstock has an MT4 quill with 100 mm of travel. Positioning accuracy is 0.01 mm and repeatability is ±0.003 mm. The machine occupies 2,930 x 1,745 mm, weighs 5,400 kg, holds 240 L of coolant and needs a 28 kVA supply.
