Technical Description

The BOMAG BW 120 AD-5 is a light articulated tandem vibratory roller designed for efficient asphalt and soil compaction on medium to small construction sites. It features a 1200 mm (47.2 in) working width and a hydrostatic drive system that powers both front and rear drums, providing smooth, infinitely variable travel speeds up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph). The machine is powered by a Kubota D1803 3-cylinder water-cooled diesel engine delivering 33 hp (25 kW) at 2600 rpm, meeting Tier 4 Final / Stage V emission standards. It has an operating weight of 2700–2840 kg (5953–6261 lb) and a gross weight of 3500 kg (7716 lb), with an average static linear load of 11.3 kg/cm (63 lb/in). The exciter system offers two vibration frequencies of 63 Hz and 67 Hz (3780/4020 vpm), with a high amplitude of 0.5 mm (0.02 in) and a centrifugal force of 30/34 kN (6740/7640 lbf). Steering is via a hydrostatic oscillatory articulation system with a 32° steering angle and 10° oscillation, enabling tight maneuverability and a small inside turning radius. The roller is equipped with a hydrostatic service brake and a hydromechanical parking brake, a 12 V electrical system, and a pressure-type sprinkler system. With a compact overall length of 2529 mm (99.6 in) and a narrow width of 1272 mm (4.2 ft), the BW 120 AD-5 is well-suited for confined areas, road repairs, car parks, and landscaping.
