The Clausing Ibarmia A40 Upright Drill Press is a heavy-duty industrial machine designed for precision drilling and tapping of medium to large metal workpieces. It features a 30.7-inch swing and is powered by a 2.95 horsepower motor, enabling drilling capacities up to 1.97 inches in steel and 2.36 inches in cast iron, with tapping capacities up to 1.42 inches in steel and 1.65 inches in cast iron. The spindle uses a 4 Morse Taper (4MT) and has a quill diameter of 3.46 inches with a spindle travel of 7.87 inches, accommodating deep drilling operations. Speed control is implemented via a gear head with a speed plate and selector levers conveniently located on the front of the head. The quill feed is manual with an optional mechanical clutch for automatic feed control and automatic feed reversing available on “RS” models, facilitating tapping operations. The drill press includes a large rotating worktable featuring three T-slots, adjustable vertically, with optional tilting to suit various machining angles. The machine base is equipped with two T-slots, a coolant tank, and a coolant pump to manage heat during operation. Additional features include a depth scale with adjustable stop, an automatic tool ejector, integrated work light, emergency stop button, and a drill guard with microswitch for safety. Built-in low voltage electrical equipment is housed within the machine head. The overall machine weighs about 1,014 lbs and occupies approximately 20" width, 38" depth, and 76.8" height. Optional accessories include multi-spindle head guide rods, pneumatic counterbalance, foot pedals for cycle start and reversing, and advanced coolant systems, enhancing versatility and operator control.
