Technical Description
The Mori Seiki NL2000 is a horizontal CNC turning center in the 8-inch chuck class, here in its basic 2-axis turning form (NL2000/500) with one spindle, a turret and a tailstock. Swing over bed is 923.8 mm (36.4 in), swing over cross slide is 755 mm (29.7 in), maximum turning diameter is 366 mm (14.4 in) and maximum turning length is 510 mm (20.0 in). The JIS A2-6 spindle has a 73 mm (2.9 in) through-spindle hole, 65 mm (2.5 in) bar capacity and a 120 mm front bearing, and runs to 5,000 rpm on a 15/15/11 kW (20/20/15 HP) motor rated 50%ED/30 min/continuous; an 18.5 kW high-output spindle was optional. The turret holds 12 tools as standard, with 10-, 16- and 20-station heads optional, and indexes in 0.2 s. X- and Z-axis travels are 260 mm and 590 mm with 30 m/min rapid traverse. The tailstock travels 564 mm, has an 80 mm quill and takes an MT4 live center. The machine stands 2,120 mm (83.5 in) high on a 2,705 x 1,922 mm floor space and weighs 5,400 kg (11,880 lb). Milling (MC), Y-axis and second-spindle (S, SMC, SY) versions share the same bed and capacity.
