Technical Description
The DMG MORI NLX 4000BY|1500 is a heavy-duty horizontal CNC turn-mill center combining the big-bore spindle, rotary-tool milling and a Y-axis on the long 1500 bed. Swing over bed is 1,000 mm (39.4 in) and swing over cross slide is 780 mm (30.7 in); maximum turning diameter in the milling and Y-axis version is 500 mm (19.6 in) and maximum turning length is 1,506 mm (59.2 in). The JIS A2-15 big-bore spindle has a 185 mm (7.3 in) through-spindle hole, takes an 18-inch chuck and runs in four speed ranges to 1,500 rpm on a 37/30 kW (50/40 HP) motor rated 30 min/continuous. The turret holds 10 or 12 tools, with rotary tools to 10,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) drive or 4,000 rpm in the high-torque version. Travels are 315 mm in X, 1,685 mm in Z and 120 mm (plus or minus 60 mm) in Y, with 30 m/min rapid traverse in X and Z and 10 m/min in Y. The programmable tailstock travels 1,540 mm and carries a built-in MT5 center. The machine stands 2,539 mm (100.0 in) high on a 5,321 x 2,490 mm floor space and weighs 13,900 kg (30,580 lb). The October 2018 catalog lists the Mitsubishi M730UM control.
