Technical Description
The Mori Seiki NTX2000/1500SZM (first generation) is an integrated mill-turn center with two opposed spindles, a B-axis tool spindle and a 10-station lower turret with rotary tools, built on the 1500 bed. Swing over cross slide is 660 mm (25.9 in); maximum turning diameter is 610 mm (24.0 in), or 660 mm (25.9 in) with the B-axis at 90 degrees, and 274 mm (10.7 in) with the lower turret. Maximum turning length is 1,540 mm (60.6 in). Spindle 1 has a JIS A2-6 nose, a 73 mm (2.9 in) through-spindle hole and 65 mm (2.5 in) bar capacity, and runs to 5,000 rpm on a 22/18.5 kW (30/24.7 HP) motor rated 30 min/continuous; an 80 mm bar-capacity version with an A2-8 nose runs to 4,000 rpm. Spindle 2 has the same 22/18.5 kW rating and 5,000 rpm. The tool spindle reaches 12,000 rpm on an 18.5/11 kW (24.7/15 HP) drive and draws from a 38-tool magazine (76 optional). Lower-turret rotary tools run to 6,000 rpm. Rapid traverse is 40 m/min in X, Y and Z. The machine stands 2,621 mm (103.2 in) high on a 4,080 x 2,980 mm floor space excluding the chip conveyor and weighs 15,320 kg (33,704 lb) with the 38-tool magazine.
