Technical Description

The DMG MORI NLX 2000|500 is a horizontal CNC turning center built in the basic milling specification with one 8-inch chuck spindle, a 12-station BMT turret with rotary tools, and a tailstock. Swing over bed is 923.8 mm (36.4 in), swing over cross slide is 755 mm (29.7 in), maximum turning diameter is 366 mm (14.4 in) and maximum turning length is 510 mm (20.0 in). Bar work capacity is 65 mm (2.5 in). The JIS A2-6 spindle runs to 5,000 rpm and is driven by a 15/15/11 kW (20/20/15 HP) motor rated 15%ED/30 min/continuous, with a 22 kW (30 HP) high-output spindle offered as an option. Rotary tools reach 10,000 rpm on a 5.5 kW (7.5 HP) drive, and 10-, 16- and 20-station turret heads are optional. X- and Z-axis travels are 260 mm and 590 mm, rapid traverse is 30 m/min on both axes, and the C-axis indexes at 400 rpm. The tailstock travels 564 mm and takes an MT4 live center. The machine stands 2,145 mm (84.4 in) high on a 2,820 x 2,082 mm floor space with right-hand chip discharge and weighs 5,000 kg (11,000 lb). The September 2016 catalog lists the Mitsubishi M730UM control with CELOS and MAPPS. Y-axis and second-spindle versions are sold as NLX 2000Y, S and SY.
