Technical Description

The DTI HOGGER II VERTICAL BORING MILL is a high-performance machine designed for precision heavy-duty turning. It features a 100-inch table diameter and an expansive 112-inch swing, accommodating workpieces up to 35 inches in height and 33,000 lbs in weight. Driven by a robust 160 HP motor, the machine achieves a maximum spindle speed of 180 RPM and utilizes a 2-step gear box for optimal torque delivery, generating a maximum cutting torque of 53,000 N per ram. Each of the two 12-inch by 12-inch rams has a 35-inch stroke and is equipped with 4 tool stations using KENNEMETAL KM-80 Quick Change Tool Holders. Tool management is efficient with 60 Automatic Tool Changers (ATCs) per ram. Precision movement is ensured by 80 mm ballscrews. The machine includes advanced features such as high pressure coolant through the tool holders, a full enclosure for safety, and a chip conveyor, all contributing to its 180,000 lbs operational weight.
