Technical Description

The ESCO ESCOMATIC D2/D5 is a precision CNC horizontal turning machine engineered for small-diameter component manufacturing from coil or bar stock. This single-spindle system accommodates material diameters up to 0.200" with a maximum turning length of 5.510", making it ideal for producing miniature precision parts down to 0.3mm. The machine features a rotating tool head design with capacity for two simultaneous cutting tools and maximum tool speeds of 18,000 RPM, delivering fast cycle times with enhanced precision. The main spindle operates at 8,000 RPM with 0.30 HP output, while the optional secondary spindle provides identical specifications. The system includes 2-axis standard configuration with optional 3-axis capability and 2.750" Z-axis travel, enabling complex multi-sided machining operations. A proprietary material straightening and feed system eliminates runout and enables continuous 24-hour unattended production directly from coil stock without material rotation. The D5 variant adds advanced front and back-side machining capabilities with three axially positioned spindles for drilling, tapping, and threading operations, allowing simultaneous back-side machining during turning. Both models utilize FANUC or menu-guided CNC controls with ISO programming compatibility and standard escomatic tooling, ensuring ease of operation and quick process adaptation. This compact design delivers exceptional price-to-performance value for high-volume production and small-batch manufacturing of precision turned components in steel, brass, and aluminum.
